  1.   AT&T WorldNet Macintosh Readme

  3. Attention Internet Users:
  4. Due to the fact that multiple ISP's (Internet Service Providers) may not coexist well on the Macintosh, AT&T WorldNet Service saves your other ISP's preferences and extensions in the "AT&T WorldNet" folder.  This will temporarily disable access to your other ISP.  To restore your previous ISP settings, see the on-line Trouble Shooting guide for detailed instructions.

  6. Attention PCI PowerMac Users:
  7. If you have a PCI PowerMac (Currently models 7200, 7500, 7600, 8500, 9500), you will need to obtain the 7.5.3 Revision II update. This will prevent problems that may arise while running various software packages, including the AT&T WorldNet Service Software.  For best results, install the upgrade first, and then the AT&T WorldNet software.

  9. Where to Obtain the Upgrade:
  10. 1. Call Apple at 1-800-293-6617 (Canadian Customers 1-800-361-6075).

  12. 2. Choose Option 2, then Option 1 (This will connect you to a customer service representative, who will assist you in obtaining the upgrade).

  14. Or, if you have access to the Internet, you can download the upgrade from Apple's FTP Site: 
  15.     ftp://ftp.support.apple.com/pub/apple_sw_updates/US/Macintosh/System

  17. System Requirements:
  18. 68030 Or Higher Based Macs
  19.   Ñ8 MB of RAM plus virtual memory or 12+ MB built-in .
  20.   ÑSystem 7.1 or Higher.
  21.   Ñ14.4 Modem or Better.
  22.   Ñ15 MB of Disk Space

  24. Power Macs (PCI Bus)
  25.   Ñ8 MB of Ram plus virtual memory (16 MB for PCI Bus)
  26.   ÑSystem 7.5.2 or Higher (7.5.3 Revision II or Higher for PCI Bus)
  27.   Ñ14.4 Modem or Better.

  31. ÑYou may need to click on the Home Button or Enter a URL to cause the AT&T WorldNet Service software to make a connection to the service.

  33. ÑExtensions should be turned off during installation to ensure proper installation of the software. To turn off extensions, hold down the "shift" key during startup.

ÑIf your hard drive is named anything but "Macintosh HD", you may see an error while viewing the browser help files. The AT&T WorldNet Service software will report that it is unable find the file that you are requesting to view. These files can be read by double-clicking on them from the "Docs" folder, located in the "AT&T WorldNet Service" folder.

ÑIf you have a Performa Macintosh, you may have a software utility called Launcher installed on your computer.  After the  AT&T WorldNet Account Setup program starts, the Launcher folder may cover the Account Setup screen if Launcher is running.   To bring the Account Setup screen to the front, simply choose "Account Setup" from the Application menu.
